The session began with an invocation by Hon. Chukwumela Ordu, Councilor for Ward 3, setting an auspicious tone for the day’s proceedings.

Hon. Uzor Arthur initiated the motion for adoption of the day’s votes and proceedings, seconded by Chief Whip Hon. Obed Omaegbu, allowing the council to formally proceed.

Three critical motions were presented under matters of urgent public importance:

1. Remodeling of ONELGA’s Executive and Legislative Offices

Proposed by Hon. Uzor Arthur, this motion aims to upgrade ONELGA’s executive and legislative facilities. Arthur emphasized that modernizing these spaces would enhance the functionality and professionalism of government operations, aligning with ONELGA’s vision of a progressive administrative environment.

2. Reconstruction and Furnishing of ONELGA Nursery and Primary School

Also put forth by Hon. Uzor Arthur, this proposal seeks comprehensive renovations and updated furnishings for the Local Government’s nursery and primary school facilities. In his address, Arthur underscored the essential role of quality educational infrastructure in providing ONELGA’s youngest residents with an equitable start.

3. Installation of CCTV Cameras on Omoku-Ahoada Road

Recognizing increasing security concerns, Hon. Shedrack Imegi introduced a motion to install CCTV cameras along the Omoku-Ahoada Road, a vital artery within ONELGA. The proposed surveillance infrastructure is intended to deter criminal activities, improve road safety, and aid law enforcement efforts, fostering peace of mind among residents and travelers.

Following thorough deliberations, all three motions received unanimous approval, reflecting the council’s consensus on these critical needs. The legislative body pledged to fast-track these initiatives, emphasizing that each would have a direct, positive impact on the well-being and security of ONELGA residents.

Comrade Felix Dimkpa, Special Adviser on Media for the ONELGA 9th Legislative Council, commended the productive session, highlighting the commitment of the council members to act decisively on issues that matter to the community.

With these resolutions, the 9th Legislative Council sets an encouraging precedent for its tenure, focusing on practical steps to foster a safer, more inclusive, and development-oriented ONELGA.
