The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) has sealed a residential property on Adedosu Street, Otubu, Agege.

The bungalow, containing more than 10 rooms, has been sealed due to an overflowing pit latrine.

This situation has resulted in the discharge of sewage into nearby public drains, creating foul odour and environmental pollution which is liable to cause an outbreak of diseases.

The General Manager of the Agency, Adefemi Afolabi, led a compliance team to address health violations at the local property, emphasising that such conditions will not be tolerated in the State.

He emphasised the commitment of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Kadri Obafemi Hamzat to prioritising the health and well-being of residents.

Afolabi pointed out that the State recently emerged from a cholera outbreak and stressed the importance of preventing future incidents.

To this end, he instructed the compliance team to issue a seven-day ultimatum to the property owners and tenants to properly evacuate the pit latrine and install a proper sewage system. Failure to comply will result in sanctions.
