…Says Nigeria shall rise again, occupy rightful place at global stageĀ
Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori is prioritizing economic growth and development, while also praying for his detractors.
The governor will not join issues with his detractors no matter the level of provocation and baseless allegations, instead he will continue to use the state financial resources to upscale socioeconomic and infrastructure development, improve quality health care, enhance qualitative education, boost agricultural production and partner with the federal government and international development partners to create more jobs and wealth for the people.
Director General of Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, gave the assurance while speaking to newsmen during the celebration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence anniversary at the Cenotaph Complex in Asaba on Tuesday.
He predicted that Nigeria shall rise again to genuinely occupy her enviable position as the economic giant of Africa, emhasizing the need for citizens to put Nigeria first, far and above individual interests, noting that lack of genuine patriotism and strong desire by some persons to amass wealth was responsible for corruption and mismanagement of resources in all tiers of government.
Dr Latimore noted that governor Oborevwori is always busy inspecting and commissioning projects, as well as presiding over multifaceted empowerment programmes since assumption of office, pointing out that the governor does not have any time left to respond to falsehood and media propaganda.
The Bureau Chief noted that governor Oborevwori is only interested in any conversation that would fast-track socioeconomic development and wellbeing of the people, which is why he will never apportion time to negative issues that may not add value to governance and wellbeing of our people.
He disclosed that those behind the recent peddling of falsehood, hate speech and baseless allegations against governor Oborevwori and the immediate past governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, through the instrumentality of deliberate media propaganda, misinformation and disinformation have been forgiven, but should sin no more, noting that the two leaders resolved many years ago never to harbour grudges against anyone in adherence to biblical injunction enshrined in Leviticus 19:18.
Oghenesivbe outlined some of the achievements of governor Oborevwori within 16 months in office to include; ongoing construction of three mega flyovers, roads expansion and reconstruction of Effurun Roundabout flyover, financial assistance and grants to over 5,000 persons to expand small scale businesses, as well as the ongoing dualization of Ughelli-Asaba road.
Other projects currently receiving attention are; the various multi-million Naira underground water tunnels to solve erosion problems in some parts of Delta North, Delta Central and Delta South Senatorial Districts, payment of counterpart funding of N1 billion to empower 2,000 farmers, upscaled beneficiaries of D-CARES programme from 36,353 to 208,209 persons within 16 months in office, distributed farm inputs to over 6,000 farmers to boost agricultural production, completed and commissioned the gigantic State High Court Complex, construction of new roads, as well as completion of inherited multifaceted infrastructure projects, among others.
“Governor Oborevwori is too busy to join issues with any politician or political detractors. His major focus is on economic growth, infrastructure development and wellbeing of the People.
“His track record within 16 months in office is amazing. The governor’s monumental achievements obviously infuriates those who never expected the unprecedented heights of socioeconomic and infrastructural development within a short period of time. No apologies to them, because governor Oborevwori will sustain his good governance strides.
“My humble appeal to the governor’s detractors is that they should join hands with him to Advance Delta. He’s governor for all Deltans, ready to partner with all leaders and politicians across board.
“Delta first should be our collective slogan. If you love Delta, you will place her far and above personal interests. The governor truly love Delta as can be seen in the spread of development across the state.
“Nigeria shall rise again to occupy her enviable position as the economic giant of Africa. To achieve this feat we must put Nigeria first and above our individual interests.
“Our country, Nigeria is 64 years old from the day she got independence from Britain, our colonial master. The journey has been rough and tough, but we can do better.
“Nigeria is yet to make good use of the enormous resources God gave us as a nation. He gave this country everything a nation needs to be exceedingly great.
“Genuine patriotism will beget good governance, and good governance begets development and economic prosperity. Let’s work harder and imbibe honesty to make our country great,” Oghenesivbe said.
