Nationwide Protest: Onitsha South LG Records Impressive Workers’ Attendance

Onitsha South Local Government Area Secretariat, today, Friday, August 2, 2024, witnessed impressive turnout of workers despite the ongoing nationwide protest.

This followed a marching order issued to the workers by the Transition Committee(TC) Chairman of the local government, Hon Emeka Orji, that the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo instructed that any local government that doesn’t show impressive attendance to work throughout the period of protest will have their salaries withheld.

The TC Chairman was said to have given the order after meeting the local government headoffice deserted on Thursday, as a result of the protest even as there was no reason for workers to stay away from work since Anambra State is peaceful.

Eye witness reports recorded in a video show the workers in their numbers lined up to sign in for the day in the attendance register under the supervision of the Head of Personnel Management (HPM) of the local government.
