…holds “Men Wey Sabi” Campaign at Amikanle Market

Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has reiterated its resolve to curb Sexual Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) through strategic and behavioural mindset adjustment programmes, sensitisation and training of all relevant stakeholders in the community of Agbado Oke-Odo Local Government.

The Executive Secretary of DSVA, Mrs.Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, speaking at an awareness programme, tagged: “Man Wey Sabi”, organised by the Agency for residents/traders at Amikanle Market, Agbado Oke-Odo, noted that the initiative was designed to address gender stereotypes in Lagos.

Vivour-Adeniyi, who spoke through Mr. Damilare Adewusi, a Director in the Agency, added that the primary objective is to spread the message in a spirited manner, challenging stereotypes regarding men’s involvement in childcare and the essence of partnership which brokers peace in marriage.

Speaking further, she emphasised the need to collectively take responsibility for women empowerment and enjoined the community leaders and residents of the Agbado Oke-Odo market and its environs to champion gender equality.

The campaign addressed men’s undeniable roles in promoting lasting partnerships and ending domestic and sexual violence in marriages. An entertaining cooking competition, generously sponsored by Power Oil Nigeria Limited, was held to showcase the culinary expertise of men in the kitchen as part of the advocacy.

The winner of the cooking competition, Mr. Ajewole Busayo appreciated the Agency for bringing the initiative to Amikanle Market, Agbado Oke-Odo Local Government and called on men to be good supporters to their spouses at home.
