LAGOS: KEEP OUR TEACHING HOSPITAL VISION ALIVE – PERMANENT SECRETARY CHARGES BADAGRY GH
The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Health Service Commission, Dr. Ademuyiwa Benjamin Eniayewun has charged the management of Badagry General Hospital to keep the vision of becoming a teaching hospital alive.
Dr. Eniayewun gave the advice on Wednesday when he led the Hospital Transformation Support Initiative (HTSI) team on a tour of the health facility in Badagry to assess the readiness of the hospital to live up to the vision of being a potential tertiary hospital in the axis.
According to him, “The vision of making Badagry General Hospital a teaching hospital is a gradual process, entailing step-by-step progress. The foremost is to strengthen the human capacity on ground to offer the right experience and optimise better experience for patients”.
While being conducted round the facility by the Medical Director/CEO of Badagry, Dr. Olatunde Bakare, he asserted that, given the location and series of ongoing development at the facility, all set goals and objectives will be achieved in no distant future.
The Coordinator of the Hospital Transformation Support Initiative (HTSI) team, Dr. Yinka Otepola said that the group has noticed a lot of improvements during the tour which is an indication that the Medical Director and management are on the path of true transformation.
He further stated that the transformation journey is a continuous one and advised the management not to give up because success is not an attainment, but a journey. He stressed that the management should continue to work together to attain greater heights.
Another member of the team, Dr. Olugbenga Oyekan appreciated the management for allowing the team to meet the hospital in better conditions than it was during its last assessment. He enjoined the management to work harder towards its projection of being a tertiary facility as the ongoing Lagos-Badagry Expressway would soon be completed.
Earlier, the Medical Director/CEO, Dr. Olatunde Bakare solicited the commission’s assistance in resolving several of the hospital’s challenges ranging from inadequate staffing across all cadres as well a request for a new staff bus to replace the current one because of frequent mechanical fault as a result of several years of use.
