2027 Guber Election: Ex-NASENI Boss Confirms Interest to Contest

Prof. Mohammed Haruna, Ex Executive Vice Chairman of National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has confirmed interest in contesting the governorship election in Nasarawa in 2027.

He stated this in an interview with newsmen in Keffi local government area of Nasarawa state on Wednesday.

 

According to Haruna, the decision to contest the governorship seat after the expiration of the second tenure of Governor Abdullahi Sule was due to overwhelming demand from his constituents that he contest to build on the successes achieved by the current state administration.

 

“I am responding to several calls from the youths, elderly, many groups and stakeholders and associations to participate in the politics of Nasarawa state.

 

“If by the Grace of God we are alive, healthy and opportune to witness 2027 then by the same Grace of God I will participate and aspire to lead the state to continue with the developmental programmes of the current administration,” he said.

 

He added that he decided to heed the call of well wishers not just because he wanted to be counted among the governors of the state but to take the state to greater heights for the benefit of all residents.

 

“I took this decision not because I want to be counted among the governors of the state but because of if the progress, welfare, stability and peace of the state and the utilization of untapped resources that God has blessed this state with.

 

“We are interested to see that all those living in the state benefit from these God given human and material resources and of course for the progress of the country as a whole,” he said.

 

Haruna also called on Nigerian leaders to prioritize merit-based appointments, ensuring that the right people occupy key positions to drive optimal productivity and national growth.

 

He emphasized the importance of qualified and credible individuals in leadership roles, citing his own experience as NASENI Chief Executive where he successfully implemented projects across three senatorial zones and created employment opportunities for youths in federal government ministries and parastatals.

 

Haruna then expressed satisfaction with the ongoing industrialization of the state under the leadership of the current governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule and vowed to vowed to improve on the current governor’s successes if voted into power.

He also advised the newly appointed Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government, Barrister Labaran Magaji to discharge his duties accordingly and give the governor the much needed support geared towards achieving more successes for the state.
