The spokesperson for the union, Olumide Akintayo, disclosed this in an interview with The PUNCH on Monday.

The PUNCH had reported that the union, an umbrella body of health workers in the country except medical doctors, had issued a 15-day notice to the Federal Government over the failure of the latter to meet its demands.

The union also stated that its members nationwide would down tool if the Federal Government failed to meet its demands.

The ultimatum which the union issued elapsed on Monday.

Akintayo told our correspondent, “We have shelved the plan to go on strike pending the outcome of our meeting with the Minister of Labour. We will be meeting with him on Wednesday, which is two days from now. Our union does not like going on strike because we are compassionate.
