As the world commemorates World Police Day on April 5th, 2025, Civil Society Organizations (𝐂𝐒𝐎𝐬), Non-Governmental Organizations (𝐍𝐆𝐎𝐬), Community-Based Organizations (𝐂𝐁𝐎𝐬), and Faith-Based Organizations (𝐅𝐁𝐎𝐬) across Delta State are urged to show solidarity by participating in a statewide sanitation exercise alongside our gallant police officers.
This exercise, scheduled to commence at 8:00 AM across all 25 Local Government Areas, is a symbol of unity and community partnership. The news media is also encouraged to amplify this noble cause and promote the efforts of our officers in maintaining peace, order, and public health.
It is also a time to reflect on the sacrifices and contributions of our men and women in uniform. In light of this, we appeal to the Delta State Government to emulate the long-standing practice in Lagos State, where police officers receive monthly incentives as a form of motivation. Our officers deserve more—𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘃𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀 ,𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳 𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 across the state should be top priorities.

To further encourage and support the Delta State Police Command, we call for 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 for the children of serving and retired officers within the state command. Their service should not go unappreciated.
Furthermore, the government must adopt non-kinetic strategies in tackling insecurity. We painfully recall the tragic loss of nearly 20 police officers in Ughelli South, who were ambushed during a rescue operation. The alleged use of drones by armed Fulani herdsmen underscores the need for intelligence-driven and technology-supported policing.

As we mark this important day, we pray for divine protection over our police force. We, the civil society community, will continue to support, partner, and advocate for the Delta State Police Command. Let us all rise in unity for a safer, cleaner, and more secure Delta State.
