Attention: Federal Road Maintenance Engineer, 𝐅𝐄𝐑𝐌𝐀 Delta State.

We, the Young Nigerian Rights Organization, a civil society organization committed to advocating for the rights and well-being of citizens, write to express our deep concern regarding the alarming state of federal roads in Delta State. It is with a sense of urgency that we call 𝐅𝐄𝐑𝐌𝐀 Delta State to account for its critical responsibility to ensure safe and passable roads for Nigerians.

Despite the funds allocated for road maintenance, many federal roads in Delta State remain in deplorable conditions, posing significant risks to the lives of motorists, commuters, and residents. Numerous reports and complaints from road users highlight the hazards posed by potholes, erosion, and the general neglect of critical infrastructure. These issues not only compromise road safety but also impede economic activities and development.

As an agency tasked with maintaining federal roads, 𝐅𝐄𝐑𝐌𝐀 has the mandate to regularly inspect, repair, and rehabilitate roads to ensure they meet acceptable standards. However, the current situation in Delta State shows a clear dereliction of duty, and the people are bearing the brunt of this failure.

We are therefore calling on 𝐅𝐄𝐑𝐌𝐀 to:

1.☛ Provide an immediate timeline for road repairs and rehabilitation across key federal roads in Delta State.

2.☛ Explain the delay in addressing these long-standing road issues, especially along Asaba/Benin Expressway (Koka flyover By Conoil junction , Asaba/Onitsha Express way,

Ezenei Avenue by Bonsaac junction, Asaba -Onitsha Express way) Delta State.

3.☛ Engage the public and civil society in regular consultations to ensure transparency and accountability in the use of funds allocated for road maintenance.

The safety and well-being of Nigerian citizens must remain a top priority, and as such, we urge 𝐅𝐄𝐑𝐌𝐀 to take swift and decisive action. Failure to act will leave us with no option but to pursue further legal and public interest actions to ensure accountability.

We look forward to your prompt response and immediate action.
